A world changing idea.
This Backup Plan technology takes on one of the world’s biggest problems.
Let’s take some time to talk about something taboo in our culture: death, sickness or a disability. With so many disasters coming your way how can you possibly recover from them every time everywhere.
Chances are if you’re reading this, you know someone either distant or close to you that has experienced one of these. You read this, you make dinner, or lunches for the kids, and you forget about it. So the concept of an innovative system that provides you and your family peace of mind may not appeal to some of you because it will never happen to you; but it’s a simple technological innovation that could help millions of lives around the world.

The facts are that it will happen, because we don’t get up in the morning to plan for a tragedy, or a disaster. They just happen.
Whether you are single or have a partner, everyone’s Life puzzle is complicated and unique. Your family or friends may not know all the details of your puzzle but when tragedy hits your life – your family or friends will need a very quick recovery to that valuable information!

Any urgency to getting your Backup Plan?

DAY 40 TIP OF THE DAY - 60 DAY CHALLENGE OFFER

Is there any urgency to getting your Backup Plan? I will look at it later, I will do it later, I really need it, I will worry about it later! Really? Things will wait for you before they happen?
We really don't think anything is going to happen, do we? But, things do happen. And it seems like the bad guys are even that much more ahead of it than we are.
We plan for weddings, we even have a plan b if it rains or - even if those no good relatives show up!
We have a Plan for that big dinner event, and even for a Plan B if we get too many show up
But, we don't have a Plan B for ourselves. A plan that incorporates every part of our lives, our family and our personal stuff that we have in our head somewhere.
How do we get that organized and how do we plan for all of these things so that at anytime the impact is minimal???

Why don't you do a Will? I bet I know!

DAY 23 TIP OF THE DAY - 60 DAY CHALLENGE OFFER
Feb 23- 2013
Who will the kids go with if something happens to us? Isn't that the biggest scariest reason why you just don't do a WILL? Listen Up!
You need to just pick someone that the kids would like to be with and name that person as their trustee and then name someone else perhaps in charge of the monies.
That would be easier on the kids emotionally.
Check with us on making your will.

It doesn't have to be difficult or scary. Let us help you!

Did the brown paper Bag keep our secret financial papers safe?

DAY 16 TIP OF THE DAY - 60 DAY CHALLENGE OFFER

Feb 16-2013

What did our grandparents do with all of their important documents , their investment papers, insurance policies? Does a brown paper bag mean anything to you?
That is what our ancestors did to safe keep their documents to leave for family members.
They would roll up their documents in brown paper and stick it in the rafters either in the basement of their house or in their attic.
I spoke with someone today who mentioned to me, that their parent's house has turned over 2 times now and they are trying to figure out how to ask the new owners permission to get their Dad's brown paper bag shoved into their basement rafters.  Without telling the new owners that it is worth $250,000!

I don't have a Will because I don't know who will take my kids!

DAY 15 TIP OF THE DAY - 60 DAY CHALLENGE OFFER
Feb 15-2013
I get asked all the time I don't have a will because I can't decide who I want to take my kids! What should I do?
My husband and I can't decide or agree on anyone so we just don't do anything!
Sound familiar?
Well, it's a lot worse if you don't do anything.  Did you know that your children will be taken care of but it will be - by the Public Guardian & Trustee. They will make all of the decisions of who they will live with, and how they will disburse the children's money before they reach the age of 18. Oh yea, did I mention that there is a cost involved?
There is of course a cost involved, it is the government.  So, my recommendation is always, who do you think the children would like and love to be with if something happened. Not necessarily who you would like!

What I don't think Life insurance companies make money, do they?

DAY 13 TIP OF THE DAY - 60 DAY CHALLENGE OFFER

Feb 13-2013
How do Life Insurance companies make tons of money? Read further to find out how.
Life insurance Companies have their 2 most popular ways of making money!
Quess how?
By - You buying insurance coverage and not using it!
Yes, #1 way is people buying term insurance and then cancelling it when it gets too expensive. Perhaps after 10 or 20 years.  So then, you have paid into a program for a while and they are happy to take your money.
#2, way - are those people that have bought insurance coverage and their family doesn't know that they have any and don't make a claim against it. It's a hidden secret! The insurance company gets out of paying for the policy!

Is it necessary to colour code our keys?

DAY 12 TIP OF THE DAY - 60 DAY CHALLENGE OFFER
Feb 12, 2013
Is it necessary to colour code our keys? Why would we do something like that?

Putting extra set of keys aside and colour coding them or labelling them with Your Backup Plan is useful for others to know what key matches what.  If something happened to you, it's very nice to know what key opens up what.  Especially useful for older parents etc.

Do we need a Trust in our Backup Plan?

DAY 10 TIP OF THE DAY - 60 DAY CHALLENGE OFFER

Feb 10-2013
Do we need a Trust set up? Most of us don't even have a Will yet. What happens if we have a disabled child and we pass away?  The estate shouldn't fall into the hands of the disabled child as ASSETS. If this is the case, the government will remove all disability pensions, and grants available to the child. A Trust will allow for a Trustee to regulate non-Assets to the children either monthly or lump sums, which ever way that you have set it up. It will be distributed to the child without any hiccups.

What's your hobby? Collecting hot rods, cars, fire trucks

DAY 9 TIP OF THE DAY - 60 DAY CHALLENGE OFFER

Feb 9-2013
What happens if your spouse collects any special types of things? For example hot rods, or antique cars, or fire trucks, etc. How do we ensure that the one left behind doesn't get shafted by a fire sale? Because someone bought them next to nothing because the spouse didn't know any different. What can we do?
Setting up a system in place to look after, where to sell them, photos of the items, ideas of sale prices, and who to speak to will allow an easier transition for moving the items to a proper cost for those that are left behind.

What about your Medical records?

60 DAY CHALLENGE
DAY 2~TIP OF THE DAY - YOUR MEDICAL
RECORDS

 Feb 2 -2013
Where are all your Medical records? Only the nurses in our BC Medical system realize that our hospitals in most cases don't share YOUR MEDICAL records with any other hospital.
So, I'll give you an example.
You have a blood clot appear all of a sudden in your leg and you get rushed to one of the hospitals in Abbotsford or Chilliwack or the Okanagan. They are asking for your medical records to see if you are allergic to anything, or what medications that you've had, or what you have you a reaction to etc. No one will know the information about your blood type, your last test results, or even what would be the best treatment advice considering your own records.
Without any difficulties you can get a family member to pull out your medical records and get them to you. With no effort all of your documents and information is kept all in one place!

In Life Do you have a Plan B?

In Life, Do You Have a 'Plan B?'

I enjoy writing my blogs. My blogs are written from my point of view and, I realize, not everyone will agree with the words I write. I am not adverse to differing opinions; I rather enjoy reading what others have to say about my ideas. However, all things must end and, it seems, my blogging days are numbered.
Since 1969, I have not had vision in my right eye due to a mishap while serving in the Air Force. I’ve done fine with my mono vision until a few years ago, when I was diagnosed with macular degeneration in my good eye. At first, it wasn’t much of a problem. Lately, though, I find it difficult to use a word processor, even with a large font. Writing short articles used to require less than 30 minutes--today I’m spending more time than I desire. I get frustrated using a magnifying glass to write my words.
I will be going in a new direction soon. As of now, I am not certain what this will be, but I’m confident that I have quite a few skills that others will find useful. I've always had a "Plan B." This brings me to the subject of this blog. Do you have a Plan B?
So many people I talk to are very skilled at what they do but, should something happen where they lose the ability to perform that skill, they don’t have a backup plan. In the computing world, it is important to back up your data. If a hard drive dies and you don’t have a backup, you’ll lose all your files, pictures, songs, etc. This does not make for a good start to your day.
What is your backup plan? Are you learning a new skill, one that is different from that which you are using at present? If not, could it be that you are you reading less and watching TV more? Do you find yourself spending too much time on Facebook? Is it impossible to turn off your cell phone for more than one hour? These can be distractions to your acquiring new skills--skills that could mean the difference between having a job and being unemployed.
Take some time right now to assess your Plan B. If you don’t have one, invest a few hours each week to learning something new. Go to a museum, a library, or just spend some time alone reading or listening to instructional audio recordings. You may find that there is a new world out there, waiting for you to contribute your view, your opinion, and your skills. You never know if tomorrow is the day you will write your last blog.

What's your Backup Plan?

What’s Your Backup Plan? by Jackie Beck

www.Moneycrush.com

Planning is key to so much of personal finance — it’s how we get ahead and stay ahead. Without planning, we just scramble to react, or make decisions that can be bad for us because they aren’t well thought-out. (You know how it is when you’re forced to give an answer quickly, and then later you think of something better you could have said or done…) But it’s not just planning for things you want to have happen that matters. You’ve also got to plan for the what ifs; the things you actively don’t want to have happen.

Creating a good backup plan

You’ve got to create a good backup plan — at least for the common scenarios that many people encounter throughout their lives. What would happen if you lost your job today? What if you came home and your spouse had left you? What if you got into a car accident and needed to be hospitalized, or even died?
Think the scenarios through. If you find yourself short on a good answer to those questions (and stuff like “Well, I’d live on credit cards” isn’t a good answer to losing your job), take this as an opportunity to lay out what your ideal backup plan would look like. And then take steps to get there. For example, if you don’t know what you’d do if you lost your job, think about what you’d like to be able to do if that happened. Find another job, right? And be able to pay all your bills while you’re unemployed without worrying?
Then think about what you’d need to do to make those desired outcomes happen. (Polish up your resume, network regularly now, come up with other ways to make money, get an emergency fund going, etc.)

Thank you Money Crush, Jackie Beck for this great article on What's your Backup Plan?
